Connect your multi-tenant HANA DB

Please license every Tenant database you want to use with the Performer Suite.
Exception: Tenants do not have to be licensed separately if several HANA SYSTEM databases are located in the same system landscape.

The new way to connect with multi-tenant

Use the new connection via SQL to the HANA DB (available since Performer Suite v21.2).
All information regarding that can be found here.

The old way to connect with multi-tenant

For the old way (Performer Suite < v21.2) you have to follow the subchapters below

Information we need to create your license

  • Multi-tenant system:
    • Application Server: <SID of database>.<Application Server>
    • Instance: <instance number>
  • No Multi-tenant system:
    • Application Server: <Application Server>
    • Instance: <instance number>

To access the tenant, please adjust the settings below by following the step-by-step guide.
(info) You have to set your HTTP- or HTTPS URLs in the column "Database" to contact a specific tenant.

Step-by-step guide

Please perform the following changes to the file xsengine.ini in your HANA database:

  1. Start Eclipse and navigate to the section 'SAP HANA Modeler'
  2. Double-click SYSTEMDB@HDB
  3. Select the tab 'Configuration'
  4. Filter for 'http_url'
  5. Doube-click to open and insert value into the field 'New Value':
    'http://<SID of database>.<Application Server>:80<instance number>'
  6. Filter for 'https_url'
  7. Doube-click to open and insert value into the field 'New Value':
    'https://<SID of database>.<Application Server>:43<instance number>'

(warning) If you do that, be sure that the new configurations are set in Web Dispatcher.
If wdisp/system_auto_configuration in webdispatcher.ini is set to true you have to do nothing else.
If not you have to set the configurations in Web Dispatcher manually.

Mapping the hosts file

The 'hosts' file has to be adjusted on the machine on which the Performer Suite is running (Path: "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts")

Map the IP to the tenant-hostname:
IP <SID of database>.<Application Server>

Effect

Now it is possible to contact your HANA Tenant Database via URL.

What is a tenant database?

SAP HANA supports multiple isolated databases in a single SAP HANA system. These are referred to as tenant databases.

An SAP HANA system is capable of containing more than one tenant database.
A system always has exactly one system database, used for central system administration, and any number of tenant databases (including zero).

An SAP HANA system is identified by a single system ID (SID).
Databases are identified by a SID and a database name.
