Convert InfoObjects to Fields

In BW/4HANA and BW on HANA it is common to use field-based ADSOs in the corporate memory layer. In old SAP BW releases (7.4 and earlier) field-based DSOs/ADSOs were not available. Thus, the developers had to use InfoObject-based DSOs to build the extraction/acquisition layer. However, using InfoObjects comes along with a higher maintenance effort. It is therefore preferred to use fields instead of InfoObjects in BW/4HANA. During a migration, the old DSOs of the acquisition layer are being migrated to ADSOs. To reduce the maintenance effort for these new ADSOs it would be useful to migrate them as field-based ADSOs.

The Migration Booster offers a functionality to convert InfoObject based ADSOs into field-based ADSOs during the migration. The functionality can be accessed by opening the modeling window of ADSOs.

The functionality converts all InfoObjects of the ADSO into fields. The new fields inherit their technical settings from the InfoObjects. Once the conversion is done, the user needs to save the ADSO.

Once the InfoObjects were converted to fields, the build-up of the ADSO cannot be adjusted anymore. Thus adjustments need to be done before the conversion.

The field names can be changed by the clicking on "Rename fields".

The changes to the ADSO need to be saved before the user can start with the renaming of the fields.
