Data Lineage
Chapter Overview:
General
The Data Lineage functionality of the System Scout is a powerful tool to get the mapping of all InfoObjects/Fields of a target entity (e.g. a MultiProvider) from the sources in the Data Flow (e.g. DataSources).Â
As a result, you get an Excel file which contains all the information you need to continue your investigations related to mapping or source analysis in System Scout.
Calling up the Function
You can start the functionality for the supported Entities from their context menu. Multiple selection and execution are possible.
Structure of the Excel File
Example: Target entity TAR_ENTITY with FIELD1; in between entity INBT_ENTITY with FIELD2; source entity SRC_ENTITY with FIELD3
The created Excel always contains a sheet "Overview". This sheet shows you a list of all created sheets for the Data Lineage. Two sheets are usually created for each entity (one "Summary" sheet and one "Detail" sheet). In the "Summary" sheet you can find the summarized result of the mappings. The "Detail" sheet shows you the whole mapping over the Data Flow.Â
With the example above that means, that you see the following line in the "Summary" sheet:
Target Field | Source Field | Source Object |
---|---|---|
FIELD1 | FIELD3 | SRC_ENTITY |
In the "Detail" sheet, on the other hand, you see this:
Target Field |
|
| 2. Level Object | 2. Level Field |
---|---|---|---|---|
FIELD1 | INBT_ENTITY | FIELD2 | SRC_ENTITY | FIELD3 |
